With the upcoming Christmas holidays comes the hard task for the parents and grand parents to choose a gift for their kids. With the huge selection of toys available everyone wonders if the children will like the toy or not. This especially very difficult with the kids at the age of 5 and more. At that age they are starting to be more selective about the toys they play with and it has to be engaging and amusing for them to like it. Another thing to consider is the kid's thinking developMent as they come near to first grade.

For the girls the choice is most of the times only one. They want Dolls. There are a couple of new Dolls that are a real hit.

The first one is not a simple doll. It is the new Barbie Video Girl Doll. There are three different type of dolls - blond, brunette and African-American. And they all come with a built-in video camera. With this new toy your girl will be able to record audio and video from Barbie's point of view. The small operator can Watch the video taken in real time or replay it later on the built-in Lcd screen. Recordings, that can be up to 25 minutes long, can then be transferred to a Computer via USB cable and edited with the included video editing software.

The second doll that is a top seller this season is a Christmas themed collector's doll. It is the Barbie Collector 2010 Holiday Doll. She is just magnificent. Perfectly crafted from the Snowy white gown to the chandelier earrings and head piece. This is the perfect gift not only for the doll loving 5+ year olds but for the grown up girls too.

For the boys the gift selection task is quite more difficult. You will have to select from toys like different vehicles to action figures and Ben 10 toys. The universal selection for the boys is a remote controlled car.

Cyclaws Remote Control Vehicle is a new product by Bandai. It has a few additional features to the regular controls. It's wheels transform to claws by just pushing a button and once this is done it can perform spins, flips and wheelies. By my opinion this is a toy you might want to supervise when used.

Stinky is a catchy name. This is how Matchbox named their transforming garbage truck. It is an articulated and highly interactive toy with over 90 sounds, phrases, jokes and songs. When Stinky is hungry he will make sure you know it and once fed you can dump the stuff that's in his stomach/trash compartMent.

These are the fun toys that do not pay big attention to the learning. On the other side Fisher Price has thought about kids' mental growth. Their iXL 6-in-1 Learning System is designed to introduce the children to the technological world. It has MP3 Player, Photo Viewer, Notepad, Game Player, Digital Book Reader and Digital Art Book. It comes with a lot of stuff preloaded, but you can also extend it's features from your Computer by installing a designated software. This is a learn by having fun device that is a must have for the every kid.
